The Talent Paradox of WWE: Why don’t all Superstars deliver on the promise?
WWE is rich with talented athletes, but fans and analysts feel that the industry has a lot of superstars in the upper tier that is not realizing their full potential. Although the roster is diverse, several wrestlers remain stagnant in the creative wasteland of having no direction, little or no storyline, or the type of push that transforms good talent into a star.
These are some of the biggest names that should take their game to the next level – and how WWE can better realize the potential.
The main Superstars that should be improved.
1. Finn Balor
Finn Balor is a star whose momentum has stalled after being placed as a cornerstone star. His in-ring ability cannot be denied, yet he has not received a powerful long-term storyline in recent times. The reset of a character, or a new direction (possibly by digging into his “Demon” theatrical) or a large mid-card title push would jumpstart his course and turn him into a more predictable presence on the roster.
2. Drew McIntyre
McIntyre is the size, moveset, and star presence that WWE appears uncertain about where to put him. His potential as a main-event player is not being fully realized, whether it be creative deficits or random booking. It might take a long-term push or push on his part to get him to be not merely an occasional headliner but a real cornerstone to the future of WWE by relying on his physicality, leadership, and veteran aura.
3. Karrion Kross
Although there are moments of dominating characterization, Kross can feel like he is not used to the full extent. This intensity on promos and matches is a strong plus, yet WWE has not always been able to use him as a high-level threat. An exclusive plot or championship quest that befits his dark image would help him to enjoy the fame his talent indicates that he deserves.
4. Jey Uso
Jey has demonstrated that he is able to bring charisma as well as in-ring talent, yet he has never received the attention that he deserves. In singles contests or a high-stakes tag team setting, Jey would be better served by the innovative booking that would bring him to the next level beyond his present position of being in the mid-card.
5. Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford)
This pair is an energy source, chemistry, and entertainment, but there are not always good story lines or title shots provided to it by WWE. Having their charisma and fan base, they are ready to go to bigger feuds or even a tag team run with a championship that allows them to shine on big screens.
What’s Holding Them Back?
Creative Stagnation:
Most of these superstars are open to significant story developments, but the booking department at WWE appears to be averse to long-term storylines. In the absence of confidence in a creative, the character development will be stagnant, and the interest of fans may go down.
Underutilized Talent Depth:
WWE has a rich roster, possibly excessively so. There are just too many good performers who are overshadowed by others. It is all about balancing talent and narrative: assign such superstars stable parts to show off their strong suits.
Lack of Risk:
WWE has often played it safe. The company does not do so bold character transitions or great pushes, but instead remains on the formulaic feuds and foreseeable booking. Taking risks might have a positive effect on revitalizing these bad-performing stars.
Too much focus on Older Icons:
Newer or mid-tier stars frequently receive fewer opportunities, although legends and main-event icons are the ones that should be brought into the limelight. To grow in the long term, WWE should strike a balance between nostalgia and building on the pillars of the future.
The One Thing WWE Can do to catalyze their growth.
- New Plots & Repackaging: Provide such characters as Balor and Kross with psychological plotlines that match their strengths.
- Championship Opportunities: Furnish deserving talent such as McIntyre and Street Profits with a quality title run, as opposed to a one-time appearance.
- Character Continuity: Structure multi-episode feuds or the extended plots, which enable these superstars to grow naturally.
- Creative Risk-Taking: WWE writers should be allowed to be creative, whether it is darker gimmicks or roles as leadership or purposeful alliances as a way to restore fan attention.
- Balanced Main Event Booking: Do not just bank on the established stars to do premium matches; invest in younger or undervalued talent.
Why It Matters
In order to stay competitive and make the product future-proof then WWE has to tap into the untapped potential of the WWE roster. These superstars are not unnecessary fillers; they may be the next wave of headliners, however, only provided they are given the opportunity.
